First what does RCD (Residual Current Device) mean?
An RCD is a sensitive safety device that switches off the electricity within 10 to 50 milliseconds if there is an electrical fault. Of course, this alters with the manufacture’s specifications and brands. Its highly important that your electrical contractor provides a quality RCD.
During testing of the RCD an FCF Technician/ Electrician will look at the Type of RCD, if it’s a Type 1 or 2, combo etc. NOT all RCDs are the same and vary. Testing is also done by measuring the trip time in different phases. We are probably getting a little bit too technical. To simply the testing a push button test is done on a six-monthly test and the professional team at FCF bring the testing equipment to ensure your safety switch works.
